Lunch & Learn: Obstructive Sleep Apnea

July 23 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Free

Join Dr. Gary Huang of the Outpatient Specialty Clinic (ENT Specialists PC) for a practical update on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), with a focus on the treatment generating the most patient interest: Inspire® hypoglossal nerve stimulation—a mask-free implant for patients who cannot tolerate CPAP.

This session will cover how Inspire works, who qualifies, and when it may be an appropriate treatment option. We’ll also review the full range of OSA treatment options beyond CPAP, including oral appliance therapy, weight loss and GLP-1 medications, nasal and airway surgery, and practical guidance on when and how to refer patients.

The presentation emphasizes real-world patient selection so referrals arrive ready for evaluation. In general, Inspire is appropriate for adults with moderate-to-severe OSA (AHI 15–100) who have tried and been unable to tolerate CPAP, have a BMI under 40 (with some insurers requiring a BMI under 35), a sleep study completed within the past two years, and fewer than 25% central apneas.
