Diagnostic Imaging at Memorial Community Hospital

Radiology, also known as Diagnostic Imaging, is a type of medicine in which different modalities take images of the inside of your body for diagnosis of a disease. Memorial Community Hospital and Health System (MCH&HS) is proud to offer nine different types of modalities in the diagnostic department. Modalities available at MCH&HS include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, X-ray, Bone Densitometry (DEXA), Fluoroscopy, 3D Mammography, and mobile modalities PET/CT Scan and Nuclear Medicine, which are brought in on large motor vehicles.

Highly trained Radiology Technologists at MCH&HS work closely with a team of doctors and Radiologists. Not only are they the first point of contact with the patient, they are also responsible for accurately positioning the patient to get a correct diagnostic image. Similar to nursing, Radiology Technologists play an important role in patient care and provide compassion and expertise in sometimes unfavorable circumstances.

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, rest assured that MCH&HS can take care of your mammography needs. Mammography is a specific type of low-dose X-ray to examine breasts. Getting screened regularly is important for early detection. Angie Hodson, MCH&HS Radiology Lead, said, “Breast Cancer detection is so much better than it used to be. We are using better technology with 3D and seeing results so much clearer, resulting in earlier detection”.

For your annual mammogram or any of your diagnostic needs, please talk to your physician or call (402) 426-1116 with questions.
